FAGUS

The very well known Beech trees, splendid noble trees which come in
many forms.

Trees of this group invariably do well on chalk and, although the
common form is probable beyond the scope of the average gardener to
accommodate, there are several quietly beautiful smaller forms with
good foliage and character which are easily grown. Their habit of
keeping some older leaves well into Winter is also a valuable trait. The
original English Beech tree must rank amongst the most majestic of all
trees.
