EUCALYPTUS

Snow Gums – as light as air and so fragrant too.

Grow well on most fertile soils but avoid planting on chalk. The ‘Gum
Trees’ are well known and principally of Australian origin. They are
fast growing with distinctively scented evergreen foliage. They can be
pruned almost indiscriminately and will always grow again from the base.

gunnii 12’ Probably the hardiest species, well known and often
planted. Leaves of sage green when mature, new growths a striking
silvery blue. Often pruned hard for the effect of its juvenile foliage but
if you let it grow you will have a beautiful medium sized tree with
peeling bark. Hardy in all but the coldest areas.
£16.50 (E) (F)

dalrympleana 12’ A choice and rarer species with ornate patchwork
bark which matures to a ghostly silvery grey with age. The new
growths are coppery bronze, the whole delightfully scented. The
‘Mountain Gum’ received an award of merit back in 1953.
£25.50 (E) (F)

johnstonii 12’ A Tasmanian species known as the ‘Yellow Gum’ One
of the hardier species with shiny apple green foliage and very
distinctive red tinted peeling bark. Choice and rare species deserving
of your attention!
£26.95 (E) (F)

niphophila 13’ One of the most striking of all in this large family of
trees, with very large, long, dropping leaves of silver to metallic grey.
Creamy patchwork bark. The ‘Snow Gum Eucalypt’ is a very striking
specimen indeed.
£27.95 (E) (F)

perinniana 15’ A species with the most unusually shaped foliage which
is perfectly circular and encloses the main stems completely. It is
purple blue when young maturing to a deep sea green. Makes quite a
unique specimen which, once seen, is always planted.
£25.50 (E) (F) (*)
