betulus Frans Fontaine 10’ A fine and very fastigiate form which
maintains its classically beautiful pillar-like outline with age. Ideal for
either side of an entrance, as an avenue, accent planting etc. The

turczaninowii 8’ A fine, elegant and little known species from China
and Japan which produces noticeable long Chinese lantern like
catkins which start off apple green and then hold on the tree all winter
by which time they are amber gold. The dainty, deeply veined new
leaves emerge purple red and exhibit excellent Autumn colour and the
intricate tracery of the stems and characterful older bark complete a
little known tree which has many attributes. One of our favourites.
Scarce rare and unusual. Early ordering advised.
