ARBUTUS
The Strawberry tree - an ornamental delight
with the edible difference!
The Strawberry tree. Small trees that are truly amongst the most
ornamental of all. Usually evergreen, the glossy green leaves are joined
in the Autumn by pitcher shaped bell flowers and ornamental
strawberry like fruit which are edible, if insipid.
These require a fairly sheltered position to give of their best, especially
in the early stages. Generally not difficult to grow, they are amongst
the most coveted of all trees. Thorough soil preparation, with the
incorporation of generous quantities of peat, will pay rich dividends.
